How a lesson works
Each lesson adds one or two new keys and goes from single keys to words, sentences, a paragraph and a short exam. The on-screen keyboard lights up the next key and animated hands show which finger presses it. You earn up to three stars per exercise for accuracy, and a review drill targets the keys you find hardest.
Typing lessons for beginners, kids and adults
New to the keyboard? Start with the touch typing course: the home row first, then one or two new keys per lesson. Lessons take about ten minutes, so they fit a school period or a coffee break, and teachers can set up a class. Already typing without looking? Use the speed building course and the typing test to raise your WPM.
Made for every keyboard
TypingStreak follows your own keyboard layout: QWERTY, UK, Dvorak, Colemak, AZERTY, QWERTZ and more.
How long does it take to learn touch typing?
Most people learn all the letter keys in two to four weeks with 10 to 20 minutes of typing practice a day. Your speed keeps growing for months after that.
What are the home row keys?
A, S, D and F for the left hand and J, K, L and ; for the right hand. The small bumps on F and J let you find the home row without looking.
Is this typing course free?
Yes. Every lesson, typing test and typing game is free, and you don't need an account. An account only keeps your progress in sync between devices.
Can kids learn to type with TypingStreak?
Yes. Lessons are short, animated hands show which finger to use, and the typing games turn practice into play. Teachers can also set up a class.
