Terms of use

Short and plain: be fair, be kind, and enjoy getting faster. By using TypingStreak you agree to these rules.

Using TypingStreak

TypingStreak is free for personal and classroom use. You may practise, race, take tests and print your own certificates. Please don't copy the site, overload it on purpose, or use it to break the law.

Your account

An account is optional. If you make one, keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time under Account → Delete my account; see the privacy page for what that removes.

Fair play

Results, races and leaderboards must come from your own typing. Scripts, auto-typers, macros and pasted text are not allowed. TypingStreak checks keystroke timing; results that look automated may be marked unverified or removed, and accounts that keep cheating may be closed.

Names and behaviour

Names other people see (your account name or racing name) must not be offensive, hateful or pretend to be someone else. Offensive names are refused, and names reported to us may be changed or removed.

Certificates

A TypingStreak certificate records the result of a typing exam taken on this site and scored by TypingStreak from its keystrokes. Exams are not supervised, so a certificate does not confirm who typed. It is not an accredited, official or government qualification, and organisations decide for themselves how much weight to give it. Take exams yourself, without help: a certificate earned with someone else's typing, scripts or pasted text is a false claim, and we may remove it. Anyone with a certificate's ID or link can see the name and result on it.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep TypingStreak running and your data safe, with daily backups, but the service is provided as it is, without guarantees, and it may change or pause. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using it.

Changes

We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page. Questions: see contact.
